The First Floating Village on River Tisza

With a project that’s the very first one also in Hungary, a total of 17 houses were constructed in phase one, and 24 will follow this year. The solution that’s popular from the UK through the Netherlands to Germany, is relatively unknown in Hungary, but houseboats and floating houses of this settlement will probably change it.

As remote working turned from the only feasible solution to a very popular choice in the country, more and more employees choose to stay away from cities for months, the vast majority of them are environmentally conscious professionals.

For them a floating home is perfect with its solar panels that generate electricity during the day to the batteries that store it. They homes have particularly low emissions so the new normal might be becoming one with nature, living within arm’s reach of the wildlife.

The designers have kept in mind that Tisza (like mostly all waters in Central Europe) may freeze during winter, so the body of the boats are ice proofed.
